About The Position

The SACC-Group Leader, under the supervision of the Site Coordinator and Afterschool Director, implements classroom curriculum, provides homework assistance, communicates information to families and maintains a safe, healthy, engaging and nurturing Afterschool environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Hold a high school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree + 3 months of experience working with school-age children.
  • High school diploma/equivalent + 6 months of experience working with school-age children.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and execution of programs to meet the needs of the children and families.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance in all related areas including the Department of Early Education & Care (EEC) licensing regulations, assist Site Coordinator in promoting YUSA Healthy Eating Physical Activity (HEPA) standards.
  • Provide reasonable accommodations to allow children with disabilities to participate in activities whenever possible and to meet each child’s individual needs according to EEC and ADA.
  • Directly supervises program participants and volunteers in accordance with the organization's policies, EEC regulations, applicable laws and QRIS Standards.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs staff and volunteer work.
  • Monitor and communicate with supervisor all staff related EEC and SOUTH SHORE YMCA requirements.
  • Builds relationships with and among families and members, responds to inquiries and solves problems.
  • Creates a supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new families, and connects families to the YMCA’s cause.
  • Works with Afterschool Director and Site Coordinator to ensure that program facilities and equipment are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained.
  • Responsible for engaging volunteers.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events in order to strengthen support and build community.
