Afternoon Childcare Assistant
About The Position
Are you a self-directed learner, eager to make a significant impact in a child's life by learning and applying the Montessori method of education? Do you have a desire to work in Early Childhood Education or another child-related field? Share your respect and awe for children by becoming a passionate and supportive member of our Salem Montessori School (SMS) community. Our number one priority is the well-being and development of every child. This includes the whole child - the physical, social/emotional, and cognitive. Our SMS staff members work together as part of a collaborative, caring team and serve as positive role models.
Requirements
- Ages 18 or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPR and First Aid Certified or willing to be certified
- Ability to be on your feet
- Ability to lift and move
- Employees who are made an offer of employment will be required to pass a post-offer pre-employment background process that includes passing a Basic TB and fingerprint test, and completing an online training program.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with children (preferred)
- Experience working with children ages 3-6yrs
- Dependable and consistent in their ability to be physically and mentally present for the children
- Take responsibility for being proactive in problem-solving, caring for the environment, and building relationships
- Have keen observation skills
- Communicate articulately, respectfully, and constructively
- Excellent organizational skills and cleaning skills
Responsibilities
- Provide basic needs for children in a caring manner
- Help in the nap rooms and end-of-the-day pick-up
- After-school care
- Conduct chores apart from childcare
