About The Position

PDS Tech Commercial is hiring an Aftermarket Repair Engineer for a 12-month contract in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. The role supports production and test operations at an FAA Part 145 Repair Station and focuses on engineering improvements to metrology processes and instrumentation readiness. It is an engineering role, not a technician position, with responsibility for measurement systems, calibration workflows, equipment availability, operational efficiency, product quality, and regulatory compliance. The schedule is Monday through Friday on a first shift, 5/40 schedule. The pay rate is $67.92 per hour. The engineer will standardize metrology procedures across dimensional, torque, electrical, pressure, flow, and temperature systems; develop controlled processes for calibration and equipment disposition; analyze equipment failures and lifecycle needs; and use metrics to identify performance and improvement opportunities. The role works with Metrology, Repair Engineering, and Operations, including serving as the technical focal point for SOOT dispositions. The position requires access to information or facilities subject to ITAR and/or EAR restrictions, which may limit access to controlled technologies based on U.S. person status or export licensing. Benefits listed for associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, an employee assistance program, commuter benefits, and a 401(k) plan. Associates may also be eligible for paid leave required by law and holiday pay where applicable.

  • Understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, including uncertainty analysis and method validation.
  • Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, test-rig environments, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Background working with complex measurement systems and mission-critical instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in AS9100 experience and calibration metrology equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Review, update, and standardize metrology procedures for dimensional, torque, electrical, pressure, flow, and temperature measurement systems.
  • Develop controlled workflows for calibration, repair, replacement, and escalation processes.
  • Establish best practices to improve instrumentation readiness and measurement reliability.
  • Analyze failure modes across mechanical, electrical, and thermal measurement systems.
  • Implement process controls to minimize unplanned test-rig and production downtime.
  • Conduct lifecycle assessments and recommend equipment replacements, upgrades, and backup strategies.
  • Develop and monitor metrics for calibration workloads, overdue gages, equipment health, and lifecycle conditions.
  • Identify trends and continuous-improvement opportunities to improve measurement-system effectiveness and operational performance.
  • Partner with Metrology, Repair Engineering, and Operations to address systemic instrumentation and readiness issues.
