About The Position

The After School - School Age Child Care Site Director is responsible for the administration and operation of one after school program/ one day camp.

Requirements

  • AA in Child Development, 3 semester (4.5 quarter) units in Admin and 2 years teaching experience OR BA in Child Development, 3 semester (4.5 quarter) units in Admin and 1 year teaching OR Child Development Credential or Permit OR AA or Bachelor's Degree, 3 semester (4.5 quarter) units in Admin and 3 semester (4.5 quarter) units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or School Age Courses (classes include, but not limited to child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum), and experience of 3 hours a day for a 100 days in a calendar year
  • No degree: Three (3) semester (4.5 quarter) units in Admin, 3 units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or School Age Courses, and 9 semester (13.5 quarter) units from the following: recreation, physical education, human services, units earned toward an elementary or middle school teaching credential, or Early Childhood Education, Child Development or School Age Courses (classes include, but not limited to child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum) and experience of 3 hours a day for a 100 days in a calendar year. All classes must be completed with a passing grade.
  • For grant funded sites: 48 semester college units required or successful completion of NCLB test and 1 year experience
  • Possess Health and Safety certificate (includes Pediatric First Aid and CPR).
  • Complete YMCA child abuse prevention and injury and illness prevention training within 30 days of hire.
  • All personnel shall be in good health and shall be physically capable of performing assigned tasks. Verification of good health by a health screening, including a test for TB, not more than one year prior to their start date or three days after employment.
  • Obtain a California clearance or a criminal record exemption as required by law (from DOJ/CACI and FBI) prior to working with children and on site
  • Minimum age of 21

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe, educational YMCA youth programming in a nurturing environment. Deliver programs and activities that align with the HEPA (healthy eating and physical activity) standards
  • Developing and maintaining yearly budgets and establishing and sustaining positive relationships with program participants, their families and prospective members.
  • Hires, trains, and provides continuous support and feedback to program staff.
  • Attend meetings, online webinars, and trainings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
