About The Position

Every afternoon, families trust the YMCA to provide a place where their children can continue learning, build friendships, and discover new interests after the final school bell rings. As the Site Coordinator, Beyond the Bell Grant, you'll lead the team that makes those experiences possible. In this leadership role, you'll coordinate a high quality, grant funded after school program serving students on an LAUSD campus, creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where every child feels a sense of belonging. You'll support and coach Team Members, build strong partnerships with school staff and families, and lead engaging club based experiences that help students build confidence, develop new skills, and thrive beyond the classroom. Requirements

  • Twenty one (21) years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to successfully complete the district required basic education assessment.
  • Experience leading adults and working with school age children in a group setting.
  • Experience planning and implementing age appropriate, developmentally appropriate youth programs.
  • Strong communication skills, emotional maturity, and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with children, families, school staff, and Team Members.
  • Current EMSA First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR certifications, or the ability to obtain required certifications as a condition of employment.
  • Completion of required health screenings and background clearances prior to working with participants.

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework in Child Development, Human Services, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high quality, grant funded after school program where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn every day.
  • Coach, mentor, and support a team of YMCA Team Members to deliver engaging club based experiences and enrichment opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, families, and community partners to strengthen the program and support student success.
  • Create purposeful experiences that promote academic achievement, leadership, belonging, and positive youth development.
  • Help ensure the program operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with YMCA and grant requirements while fostering a positive culture for children and staff.
