About The Position

The After School Program Receptionist will provide a welcoming and professional front desk experience for children, parents/guardians, staff, and visitors. This role involves managing participant check-in/check-out, attendance records, and authorized pick-up procedures while maintaining confidentiality. The receptionist will also support the supervision of elementary-age children and assist staff in maintaining a safe, structured, inclusive, and engaging after-school environment. This is a Part-Time Seasonal position working up to 15 hours per week, reporting to the Sr. Program Director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous front desk, receptionist, administrative, or customer service experience is required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or enrollment in an elementary education, early childhood education, or related program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming and professional front desk experience for children, parents/guardians, staff, and visitors, including answering questions and communicating program information.
  • Manage participant check-in and check-out, attendance records, authorized pick-up procedures, and other required program documentation while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Support the supervision of elementary-age children and assist staff in maintaining a safe, structured, inclusive, and engaging after-school environment.
  • Follow all YMCA policies, program standards, and procedures related to health and safety, emergency response, behavior management, medical needs, professional boundaries, and youth supervision.
  • Attend required trainings, including abuse prevention and youth safety training; promptly report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, policy violations, and safety concerns, and comply with all mandated abuse reporting requirements.
