After School Program Leader
About The Position
Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, this role facilitates and implements program activities, provides instruction for school students, and supervises program students. The After School Program Leader is responsible for supervising and delivering instruction to a classroom of students, facilitating their participation in hands-on, engaging, and experiential learning activities that promote curiosity, collaboration, and academic growth. This role involves working with and instructing school students individually and/or in small and large groups, while maintaining appropriate program ratios. The leader will implement effective classroom management, discipline, and instructional strategies, set up activities daily, prepare and duplicate materials, and operate instructional equipment. Monitoring and evaluating student progress, maintaining daily attendance logs and other required records, and keeping the classroom or learning facility clean, organized, and healthy are also key responsibilities. Supervision of students both in and out of the classroom during various activities, maintaining frequent parent communication, and attending staff meetings/planning/training sessions are also required. Job-related duties as assigned will also be performed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 48 Semester/60 Quarter College Units or pass NCLB test.
- Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).
- Provide a clear TB test.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Ability to demonstrate oral and written proficiency in English.
- Ability to implement effective instructional school activities in the classroom.
- Ability to learn the procedures and functions of assigned duties.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to learn, understand and apply rules, regulations, procedures and policies.
- Ability to understand and be sensitive to the needs and culture of school students.
- Ability to work confidentially with discretion.
- Ability to perform simple clerical duties.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with young children in educational or recreational settings is highly preferred.
- While driving is not a regular requirement of this role, employees who operate a personal or company vehicle for work purposes must maintain a valid driver's license and current auto insurance on file with HR.
