About The Position

Join the Henrico Education Foundation as an After-School Program Floating Lead! This role is for individuals passionate about working with children and making a positive impact on the lives of school-age students. The Henrico Education Foundation provides after-school enrichment to elementary-age children in select Henrico County schools. Our program focuses on engaging and empowering children through activities that support their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs, all within the schools they attend.

Requirements

  • Program leaders shall be at least 18 years of age.
  • Fulfilled a high school program completion or the equivalent.
  • Meet ONE of the following: Degree in child related field, An early childhood certificate, 6 months of licensed childcare program experience (after-school counselor, camp counselor, Instructional Assistant, preschool etc).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preferred in delivering programs in one or more of the following areas: songs/music, arts/crafts, science, math, literacy, drama, physical education.
  • One plus years of experience in licensed school-age program management preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Behavior management experience and experience training others on tactics and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver program lesson plans in a developmentally appropriate manner, meeting the individual physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the participants.
  • Float and support other program locations based on program needs (will have a home program location).
  • Engage with assigned children ensuring a high level of participation in activities.
  • Develop appropriate relationships with children to better understand and meet the needs of individual children.
  • Ensure the safety of children in assigned group.
  • Provide assistance with homework and encourage academic progress.
  • Provide active and attentive supervision to children, staying alert at all times.
  • Serve as a positive role model, demonstrate professional behavior, and understand positive youth development approaches to the academic and social development of youth.
  • Facilitate a program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children.
  • Promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others.
  • Maintain transparent, on-going communication with supervisor.
  • Attend Staff Meetings/daily huddles.
  • Complete mandatory trainings.
  • Adhere to all government (VDOE), local (HCPS), Henrico Education Foundation (handbook, supplement), and 21st C grant regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards for summer program and afterschool programs.
  • Adhere to the expectations outlined in the TIMELESS (Teamwork, Impression, Mission, Engagement, Leadership, Education, Safety, Students) Program Staff Training Manual.
