About The Position

Co-Curricular Program Assistants facilitate activities and supervise students in the after-school program under the supervision of a Lead Teacher or other qualifying staff member. This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring educators or for those who love working with children. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-exempt, non-benefited position. After-school programs are open Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. (earlier start on early release days). Approximately 15-20 hours per week.

Requirements

Must be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma/equivalent or currently enrolled in high school/equivalent.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Nice To Haves

Some experience or college preferred but not required.
First aid/CPR certification preferred but not required.
Principled, professional leader with an independent work ethic and a heart of service to others.
Sound business judgment and wisdom in dealing with people.

Responsibilities

Supervise up to 20 students in a classroom setting under the supervision of a qualified staff member per AZDHS.
Facilitate homework, recess, and other activities.
Present lessons from provided classical curriculum.
Utilize appropriate child guidance and classroom management strategies.
Model and instill Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues (responsibility, perseverance, integrity, honesty, courage, citizenship, humility, friendship, wisdom).
Follow standard operating procedures to ensure high quality programs.
Follow all licensing rules and regulations per AZDHS.
Follow protocols for responding to and documenting student behavior and significant events.
Escalate incident reports and significant events to supervisor.
Substitute at another campus when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
