About The Position

The After School Program Activity Leader is responsible for implementing and leading expanded learning opportunities and activities for students in grades K-4 or 5-6. This role involves the supervision, management, and safety of children during after-school hours when school is in session and on some full days when school is not in session. The Activity Leader will work closely with the Site Manager in the development and implementation of engaging and enriching activities for an educational, social, and recreational after-school program. The position requires adherence to District policies and grant regulations, development and leadership of daily expanded learning opportunities, monitoring students, and engaging them in multiple program offerings. The role also involves serving as a mentor, encouraging youth achievement, promoting youth development, implementing positive discipline and behavior management, attending required meetings and training, maintaining program spaces, communicating effectively with students, parents, and families, and performing other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Graduate preferred, must be at least 18
  • Experience working with youth
  • Positive interpersonal and listening skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and as a team
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to multitask and direct students
  • Ensure a positive experience and environment that promotes and enhances student learning, skills, and achievement.
  • Ability to operate computer, manipulate keyboard, AV equipment, some office equipment such as a copy machine, telephone, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and lead expanded learning opportunities and activities for students in grades K-4 or 5-6.

  • Implements and models positive discipline and behavior management.
  • Attends required staff meetings, training, and professional development as assigned.
  • Assures that program spaces are well maintained and left as found.
  • Maintains communication with parents and families.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
