About The Position

Salt Lake County Youth Services provides support to schools and families through Afterschool Programs, Summer Programming, and Parental Support. Our programs are offered on site at schools located in Kearns, Magna, West Valley City, and Millcreek. Our goals are to keep kids safe, provide healthy adult role models, teach new skills, and give youth confidence in themselves through a variety of enrichment activities. These goals are achieved by working closely with school administration and ensuring our staff are active participants in helping to make positive changes within the communities served.

Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Dependable -- more reliable than spontaneous

• Adaptable/flexible -- enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction
• Detail-oriented -- would rather focus on the details of work than the bigger picture

• Positive attitude -- ability to move forward during difficult situations and motivate others

Responsibilities

• Being a peer mentor to youth using Positive Behavior Support techniques while assisting with guiding groups of up to 15 youth.
• Assist with daily activities based on school day support and enrichment focus areas including STEM, Arts and Culture, Character Education, Healthy Living, and College and Career Exploration resulting in the enrichment of the youth's education and daily life activities.
