About The Position

Read Better Be Better is seeking passionate, part-time After-School Literacy Program Coaches to facilitate their after-school reading program. The role involves guiding and mentoring young Readers and youth Leaders. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy reading, working with young learners, and are looking for part-time employment. The organization is an education nonprofit focused on addressing Arizona's literacy crisis by connecting young readers and youth leaders to foster a love of literacy and leadership. They partner with schools across Arizona and have expanded their reach significantly since 2014, serving thousands of students. The team is growing, and they seek individuals who value a mission-driven, collaborative, and creative community.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Classroom management skills.
Patient personality.

Nice To Haves

Enrolled in a relevant degree program (i.e. teaching, educational studies, youth & early childhood development, social justice, etc.).
Experience working with children in a school setting.

Responsibilities

Facilitate the literacy program.
Ensure curriculum progress.
Promote a safe and healthy learning environment.
Train 4th/5th-grade "Leaders" in RBBB's curriculum to foster reading confidence skills in their Kindergarten/1st-grade "Readers" (in the K-1 Program).
Train middle school "Leaders" in RBBB's curriculum to foster reading confidence skills in their 2nd/3rd grade "Readers" (in the 2-3 Program).
Meet weekly (virtually or in-person) with their Program Coordinator to share successes, address concerns, and receive materials.
Attend professional development workshops during the semester.
Participate in a program graduation event at the assigned school.
