About The Position

Read Better Be Better is seeking passionate, part-time After-School Literacy Program Coaches to facilitate their after-school reading program. The role involves guiding and mentoring young Readers and youth Leaders. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy reading, working with young learners, and are looking for part-time employment. The organization's mission is to connect young readers and youth leaders to inspire a love of literacy and leadership, addressing Arizona's literacy crisis through partnerships with schools and community-based organizations. The Program Coach will work with elementary school students in a dynamic after-school club atmosphere, which is a fast-paced environment filled with reading, learning, and games. Coaches will receive paid training and onboarding. In the K-1 Program, Coaches train 4th/5th-grade 'Leaders' in RBBB's curriculum to foster reading confidence in Kindergarten/1st-grade 'Readers'. In the 2-3 program, Coaches train middle school 'Leaders' in RBBB's curriculum to foster reading confidence in 2nd/3rd grade 'Readers'. The primary responsibilities include facilitating the literacy program, ensuring curriculum progress, and promoting a safe and healthy learning environment. Coaches will meet weekly with their Program Coordinator to share successes, address concerns, and receive materials. Professional development workshops are also part of the role, culminating in a graduation event. The program is semester-based, with encouragement for coaches to return each semester.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Classroom management skills.
  • Patient personality.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrolled in a relevant degree program (i.e. teaching, educational studies, youth & early childhood development, social justice, etc.).
  • Experience working with children in a school setting.
