Requirements

  • Possess at least two years of prior experience teaching STEM or art to groups of students of elementary and / or middle school children.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to relate to younger children, work with different age groups, and partner with school staff to support children’s physical and emotional needs.
  • Passionate about youth development and providing a fun, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Be available to work Monday - Friday during after school hours (2-6pm) to teach STEM and / or art lessons and help children prepare for ongoing performances.
  • Ability to reliably commute to multiple locations throughout the week to teach classes throughout Westchester.
  • Up-to-date physical and tuberculosis test documentation will be required before starting.
  • Must pass Federal and NY State background checks and be willing to complete Department of Education fingerprinting prior to starting.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, including during outdoor activities, playground supervision, gym classes, or park-based programming.
  • Ability to walk to and from nearby program locations or parks, sometimes several blocks, while supervising children.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach to engage with children at their level, assist with activities, or provide support as needed.
  • Ability to climb stairs in school buildings or community facilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25–40 pounds, including sports equipment, activity supplies, or personal belongings (weight may vary by role).
  • Ability to participate in active games and movement-based activities, including running, jumping, throwing, and demonstrating basic sports skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, or light rain, depending on program needs.
  • Ability to maintain visual and auditory awareness to supervise children effectively and ensure safety in active environments.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead engaging, age-appropriate STEM and art projects that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and exploration.
  • Introduce STEM concepts through fun, hands-on experiments, building challenges, and interactive lessons.
  • Adapt lessons to meet varying skill levels and interests while ensuring activities remain inclusive and accessible.
  • Encourage collaboration, innovation, and self-expression in all activities.
  • Commit to partaking in all enrichment coach trainings throughout the school year.
  • Build positive relationships with students, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment.
  • Model curiosity, problem-solving, and a growth mindset to inspire participants.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and guidance to support confidence and skill development.
  • Model and promote positive character development and healthy peer interactions.
  • Use positive language at all times when engaging with the students.
  • Work closely with the site director to coordinate schedules, materials, and activity spaces.
  • Communicate regularly with the Site Director regarding student progress, participation, and any concerns.
  • Support overall program operations, including transitions, attendance tracking, and student supervision.
  • Ensure all equipment and materials are used safely and appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom or activity area.
  • Follow all program policies and serve as a positive role model for youth.
  • Respond appropriately to injuries, behavioral challenges, or conflicts, following organizational policies.
  • Actively supervise all students to ensure a safe and structured environment.
  • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to actively engage with youth.
  • Be prepared in proper uniform for every day of program.
  • Uphold the organization’s mission and values both in and out of the program.
  • Demonstrate integrity, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
