About The Position

SFC Chicagoland LLC dba Sticky Fingers Cooking® is seeking a part-time After School Children's Cooking Instructor to cultivate culinary curiosity in kids. This role involves teaching children aged 3-12 about new ingredients, tastes, and healthy foods from around the world through hands-on cooking classes. Instructors bring a cooking kit to various school locations, prepare and lead hour-long classes, and teach basic kitchen skills and nutrition. The position offers flexibility in scheduling, with classes typically held Monday-Friday between 2-5 pm. Additional prep and wrap-up time is expected around the class duration. The company emphasizes the importance of passionate instructors and provides paid training, support, and necessary equipment.

Requirements

  • Availability at least 2 days a week to teach (Classes are Monday - Friday and take place between 2-5pm; most classes are between 3:00 - 4:30pm).
  • Commitment to teaching weekly for full sessions (ranging from 6-12 weeks).
  • Experience working with groups of kids of varying ages.
  • Ability to manage and engage a group of 8-14 children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to communicate with our team in a timely manner.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • No professional cooking experience required.
  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification (can obtain before teaching).
  • Must pass a fingerprint background check upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Some availability between 3:00 - 4:30pm will be strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hour-long healthy and engaging cooking enrichment classes for children aged 3-12.
  • Teach children about new ingredients, healthy foods, and basic kitchen skills (washing, cutting, grating, stirring, measuring, nutrition).
  • Teach the history, geography, and language behind each recipe.
  • Create creative recipes and teach children about healthy food habits.
  • Review weekly class curricula and prepare for instruction.
  • Shop independently for fresh ingredients.
  • Manage and engage a group of 8-14 children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels.
  • Interact with children, parents, and school staff.
  • Bring the kitchen to the kids using a provided cooking kit with necessary equipment and tools.
