After School and Summer Assistant
About The Position
The after-school program at Henderson Haven, Free 2 Be Me, serves individuals aged 3 through 21 with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral issues. It provides a safe environment for participants to work on school homework, academic and social goals, and to have fun. The program maintains a low staff-to-student ratio, allowing for one-on-one attention and progress towards the goal of an independent life with true choice and inclusion. Staff in this role are considered Creative Training Assistants Level 1 (CTA1) and are crucial in helping individuals reach their full potential. The CTA1 role is vital in fostering independence, and each assistant should utilize every shift to teach new skills, build on existing ones, and connect individuals to their community.
Requirements
- Must be aware that every shift should be utilized to promote further opportunities to teach new skills, build on those already present, and to connect the individuals to their community.
- Must attend all mandatory training scheduled.
- Must read and understand all company policies.
- Must support and adhere to the company Vision and Mission statements, and company philosophies.
Responsibilities
- Review individual Information Sheets to fully understand the goals of the individuals we serve.
- Ensure the health and safety of the individual in your care.
- Attend all mandatory training scheduled.
- Read and understand all company policies.
- Support and adhere to the company Vision and Mission statements, and company philosophies.
- Clean and organize work areas.
- Work with supervisor in assisting individuals with working on their academic, social and life skill goals.
- Assist individuals with snacks and/or meals.
- Assist individuals with recreational/leisure activities.
- Assist individuals with personal hygiene needs which may include: Toileting, Diaper/Pull-up Changes, Clothing Changes, Bathing, Hygiene Activities.
- Assist with and/or document the progress/work on each of the individuals on the daily report.
- Assist with and attend field trips.
- Report to supervisor and document any Injury/Incident Reports.
- Perform any other duties assigned related to the job.
