About The Position

Spectrum Health & Human Services (SHHS) respectfully partners with adults, children and families as they recover from behavioral, emotional, mental health and/or substance related disorders by offering individualized and meaningful opportunities of hope, empowerment and support to achieve self-defined improvements in their quality of life. This is a remote position, but will require occasional office visits for trainings, etc. The ideal candidate must reside near or in Erie county. The primary function of this role is to ensure that all clients from Spectrum and other Agencies who contract with SHHS receive the necessary support and/or services when accessing the SHHS after-hours crisis line. This involves ensuring client safety and providing proper assistance in managing their crisis or emergency. The goal is to stabilize the client in the community using natural supports, professional supports, and established crisis plans to prevent unnecessary hospital visits.

Requirements

  • Commitment to strength-based, family-focused values consistent with WRAP core values, crisis intervention best practices, and agency principles and practices.
  • Excellent engagement and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all clients, families, staff, and community contacts from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to convey empathy and respect in all interactions with clients and others who contact SHHS.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in regulatory and contract requirements and program design/function to operationalize those.
  • Proficiency in working in several EHR systems.
  • Three (3) years full-time paid experience providing direct services with at-risk children, adolescents, or adults that includes crisis interventions, safety planning and service coordination.

  • Licensed or credentialed staff preferred (LMSW, LMHC, CASAC).

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional support to clients and their families who call the after-hours phone.
  • Initiate appropriate services to stabilize current crisis situations, including telephone support, CARES, Mobile Crisis Teams, Crisis Services, and 911.
  • Provide effective crisis intervention services.
  • Empower clients/families to utilize natural supports and established professional linkages.
  • Provide accurate information to clients/families about available community resources for ongoing crisis stabilization.
  • Obtain current demographics for documentation, including caller’s name, client’s name, phone numbers, address, and DOB.
  • Maintain progress notes, records, reports, and/or legal documents consistent with the standards of practice for all governing and contract agencies.
