This role is a key guide in our Global Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team, instrumental in shaping the future of safety across our global and US/Canada commercial operations. The position involves ownership of transforming the affiliate safety program, refreshing it from its foundations to a best-in-class model that truly fits Elanco's mission and maturing culture. Partnering with affiliate and commercial leadership, the advisor will act as a trusted advisor and coach, providing critical expertise on a wide range of HSE topics, while playing a leading role in hazardous waste management for our US warehouses. This is a high-impact role where strategic vision and the ability to translate data into actionable insights will directly protect people and enhance operational excellence worldwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in HSE roles, with a proven track record in program management and leading corporate safety initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in influential leadership with exceptional communication skills, capable of driving cultural change across diverse global teams.
  • Deep technical knowledge of HSE principles, including extensive experience with US hazardous waste regulations (RCRA).

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a relevant scientific or technical field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Experience working with commercial, sales, or field-based teams in the pharmaceutical or animal health industry.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive change in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Active involvement and leadership roles within professional HSE organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and direct oversight for HSE programs across US and Canadian affiliates, acting as the primary expert for all regional HSE issues, including the comprehensive management of hazardous waste for US commercial warehouses.
  • Drive, own and uphold the global transformation of the Affiliate HSE program, designing and implementing a fit-for-purpose framework that aligns with Elanco’s strategic objectives, leverages existing and new digital technologies and fosters a maturing safety culture.
  • Establish and manage a robust system for tracking HSE performance; analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and deliver reliable, data-driven reports to senior leadership to inform strategic decisions.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of the safety culture by training, coaching, and influencing affiliate management and HSE representatives on best practices and line ownership of safety.
  • Collaborate with regional fleet managers to integrate critical HSE elements into the fleet program, ensuring driver safety and regulatory compliance.
