AFC Lifeguard
About The Position
The Athletic and Fitness Center is seeking a dependable and safety‑focused Lifeguard to join our team. This position is ideal for an individual who holds current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications and has prior lifeguarding experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming aquatic environment. This role requires adherence to a designated dress code/uniform and flexibility to work varying hours, including nights and weekends. Staff must participate in online and in person training sessions provided by the Career Development Office. The position is in-person and hours vary per week depending on availability in relation to building hours. Nights and weekends are required. You will be asked to meet in person at least once per semester. There is a Dress code/uniform will be required for this position.
Requirements
- MUST possess valid American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of lifeguarding experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications
- Prior lifeguarding experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming aquatic environment
- Adherence to a designated dress code/uniform
- Flexibility to work varying hours, including nights and weekends
- Must participate in online and in person training sessions provided by the Career Development Office.
Responsibilities
- Attention to detail is imperative.
- Responsible for monitoring swimmers always.
- Maintain safety and security in the pool area.
- Enforcing pool rules always.
- Pool water testing in accordance with the Health Department.
- Assisting swimmer(s) with the proper use and teaching of equipment.
- Participating in any ongoing training/in services.
- Completing other duties as assigned by the supervisor for this position.
