This position is part of the Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) support to the NASA EM32 Welding & Manufacturing (W&M) team under the Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract to the NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate. The primary focus of this position is manufacturing large aluminum aerospace structures using fusion welding and friction stir welding processes. This is a welding engineering position. Education and experience relevant to this position will be evaluated from that perspective. The selected candidate will serve as a communication or focal point for welding and welding manufacturing projects and work integrally with JSEG and customer engineers and engineering technicians particular engineering discipline effort or scientific initiative. The selected candidate serves as a fully competent engineer or scientist in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or the functional area of the assignments. The selected candidate applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering/scientific principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. The selected candidate devises new approaches to satisfy unusual or specialized requirements. The ES-3 is capable of representing the organization at technical meetings and conferences and may guide or be assisted by engineers/scientists or technicians.
