About The Position

PPG's Aerospace business is seeking a passionate and driven Design Engineer to contribute to the future of aviation transparencies. This role is accountable for the engineering design support of new and existing Aerospace Transparencies products globally. The engineer will provide product testing and performance evaluations to ensure products and transparency programs meet performance expectations set by customers, regulatory agencies, and PPG. This is an on-site role located in Huntsville, AL, reporting to the S&T Sr. Product Development Manager.

Requirements

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in the Aerospace industry required.
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field required.
  • Experience providing technical support within a manufacturing facility required.
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously required.
  • Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in both 3D and 2D CAD, SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Experience with Aerospace structural design and analysis, including knowledge of finite element method preferred.
  • Product data management (PDM) experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering design support for new and existing Aerospace Transparencies products worldwide.
  • Conduct product testing and product performance evaluations.
  • Provide technical support to Huntsville, Sylmar, and AmpaSpace manufacturing facilities for related products using engineering skills in structural design and analysis, electrical design, product testing, and product documentation.
  • Manage technical communications within PPG, and with customers and governmental regulatory agencies through engineering test reports, presentations, and white papers.
  • Interact with customers, sales, product support engineering, program management, manufacturing, quality assurance, GTC, other PPG manufacturing facilities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the department's environmental, health, safety, quality, and value performance to ensure an injury-free workplace, 100% customer satisfaction, and plant profitability.
  • Participate in safety, quality, and value improvement teams, and contribute to manufacturing planning, budget preparation, and departmental IT planning.
  • Actively participate in the PPG New Product Introduction (NPI) process, including Technical Reviews and Management Gate Reviews.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, government regulations, customer requirements, and PPG Aerospace Transparency's manufacturing process requirements to provide suggestions and recommendations.
  • Ensure products and transparency programs profitably meet performance expectations.
