We are currently seeking a Aerospace Test Engineer to join our Ottawa based team with regular travel to our testing locations mainly in the United States!

Requirements

  • A college diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in testing, verification, system integration, or a comparable engineering environment.
  • Practical knowledge of embedded systems, including microcontrollers, sensors, and power-related systems.
  • Working familiarity with software test and debugging using C, C++, Python, or comparable programming languages.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory and test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and data acquisition (DAQ) systems.
  • Knowledge of requirements-driven verification practices and the preparation and maintenance of test documentation.
  • Flexibility to participate in multi-day test campaigns and work periodically outdoors or within industrial test environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing system-level verification for aerospace, autonomous, or similarly complex systems is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with environmental test methods and equipment, including thermal chambers and vibration testing, is beneficial.
  • An understanding of EMI/EMC testing, troubleshooting, and mitigation techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and support verification activities across hardware, software, and complete systems.
  • Create, refine, and carry out test procedures covering mechanical assemblies, electronics, and software.
  • Contribute to the integration and verification of sensors, avionics, actuators, and related subsystems.
  • Support ground and flight-test activities, including preparation, execution, data collection, and post-test analysis.
  • Participate in testing conducted at third-party facilities, including thermal, vibration, shock, and other environmental qualification activities.
  • Support EMI/EMC testing, troubleshooting, and follow-up mitigation activities.
  • Capture, analyze, and report test results, ensuring findings are accurately documented and communicated.
  • Investigate unexpected test results and system anomalies, contributing to root-cause investigations and issue resolution.
  • Maintain verification records, test reports, procedures, and requirements traceability throughout the development process.
  • Provide engineering support for production and field issues, particularly when standard troubleshooting has not identified the cause.
  • Diagnose complex hardware, software, and system failures using available logs, schematics, instrumentation, and test data.
  • Recreate production or field failures in a controlled laboratory environment and help establish appropriate corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement, validate, and document corrective measures.
  • Support domestic and international field-testing activities, including travel to U.S. test locations and external environmental and EMI/EMC facilities. Travel is expected to be approximately 10–25%.
