About The Position

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training in the applicable area of expertise, and required certifications and 18 years of related experience and technical training and certification as required across all areas of industry accepted disciplines for the technical support to aerospace systems and equipment.
  • Must have a valid US Driver's License.
  • Must be able to support all shifts, weekends and overtime.
  • Must be able to work at heights, climb stairs and ladders and be able to work in confined space.
  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel.
  • In some cases, accommodation can be made for POV, if necessary.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, coworkers, and management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nonroutine and complex inspection assignments involving Flight hardware, GSE and the manufacturing of flight and GSE hardware.
  • Inspects major units, devices, or equipment; validates work performed on installations, tests or experiments.
  • Assists in inspection tests to evaluate equipment performance.
  • Demonstrates extensive proficiency within expertise and ability to mentor less experienced technicians and engineers.
  • Under direction of the engineering staff, applies engineering principles and theories in inspecting, testing, and modifying equipment both flight and GSE.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
