About The Position

The Aerospace Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining quality systems that ensure product integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all stages of production. This role leads audits, supports certification processes, and partners with cross functional teams to uphold FAA, EASA, and customer specific requirements from raw materials through final assembly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a high precision manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or defense
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience with quality systems and tools such as Minitab, Net Inspect, or TipQA
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
  • Working knowledge of FAA Part 21 or Part 145 regulations
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to interpret complex drawings and data
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing and executive level reporting
  • High integrity and commitment to safety, quality, and ethical decision making
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Fine motor skills for handling delicate aerospace components.
  • Vision corrected to 20/20 (near vision and color perception are often required for specific inspection types).

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer strongly preferred
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor certification preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System in alignment with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards
  • Lead internal AS9100 process and product audits to ensure compliance with procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and regulatory agencies, including the FAA
  • Support accreditation and certification activities as required by the business
  • Review, verify, and issue FAA Form 8130-3, ensuring all parts and documentation meet airworthiness, traceability, and regulatory standards prior to certification
  • Perform and review AS9102 First Article Inspections to validate manufacturing process capability
  • Apply Statistical Process Control and Six Sigma methodologies to monitor production performance and identify trends
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance programs for precision measurement equipment and manufacturing tools
  • Lead root cause investigations for nonconformances using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and 8D methodology
  • Manage the Corrective and Preventive Action process to prevent recurrence of defects
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives including Lean and Kaizen activities to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
  • Evaluate supplier performance and conduct audits to ensure quality of incoming materials and components
  • Lead Material Review Board activities to determine disposition of nonconforming materials including rework, scrap, or use as is decisions
