About The Position

Neon Aero is seeking an Aerospace Quality Director to establish the quality systems, team, and operating discipline necessary for scaling parts and assemblies from prototype to production. This role will oversee the quality function across development, manufacturing, supplier quality, and production readiness, ensuring the company can grow with robust process control, repeatability, and compliance. The Director will be instrumental in guiding a growing aerospace organization from rapid iteration to reliable production while maintaining technical rigor. This position offers the opportunity to shape how a company scales, build a quality foundation for repeatable manufacturing and improved yields, and partner with engineering and manufacturing to enhance design transfer, process readiness, and production execution. The role involves leading systems and teams responsible for inspection discipline, nonconformance control, corrective action, and supplier quality, influencing production process definition and control as volume and complexity increase. Operating in a fast-paced environment, quality decisions will directly impact hardware readiness, customer confidence, and operational scale. The position requires working across office, lab, and production settings with direct visibility into quality's impact on the business.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, aerospace, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience managing a growing department of direct reports responsible for all aspects of product and process quality.
• Significant progressive experience in aerospace quality, manufacturing quality, supplier quality, or quality systems leadership.
• Experience helping move parts, assemblies, or hardware programs from prototype into production.
• Experience building or improving quality systems in a growing manufacturing organization.
• Strong background in inspection planning, process controls, nonconformance management, and corrective action.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to improve quality and production readiness.
• Experience with supplier quality management and supplier issue resolution.
• Strong problem-solving skills, judgment, communication, and ability to drive accountability across teams.
• Ability to work across office, lab, and production environments.
• Ability to support periods of increased workload tied to builds, ramp activity, and issue resolution.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• May be required to meet export control, ITAR, confidentiality, or site access requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• ASQ certification or equivalent quality credential.
• Experience with first article inspection, process validation, control plans, or production quality planning tools.
• Experience in high-growth aerospace, defense, or advanced hardware manufacturing environments.
• Experience building quality organizations during production scale-up.
