About The Position

The Production Supervisor supervises production staff in the fabrication and processing of Aerospace Transparency materials. This is a fully onsite, second-shift position at PPG’s Sylmar, California facility and reports to the Production Operations Manager.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen, green card holder, political asylee, or refugee.
• Must be willing and able to obtain a secret clearance.
• A bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of leadership experience, or a high school diploma and at least 5 years of leadership experience.

Nice To Haves

• Aerospace industry experience.
• Familiarity with AS9100, lean manufacturing principles, and kaizen events.

Responsibilities

• Work with functional area supervisors and managers to accomplish objectives and meet customer requirements for quality, service, and performance.
• Identify and eliminate waste throughout production processes.
• Train and cross-train employees and maintain employee proficiency records.
• Recommend appropriate staffing levels based on production needs.
• Apply lean manufacturing and statistical process control (SPC) principles.
• Maintain inventory control and accuracy.
• Supervise shift production teams and ensure employees follow company safety, health, environmental, and other policies and procedures.
• Ensure required training programs are in place to meet applicable standards.
• Encourage continuous improvement in individual and team performance and comply with EEO policies and procedures.
• Coordinate work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to improve efficiency.
