About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as an Aerospace Mechanical Technician, Senior to work out of Ft. Eustis, VA. This role involves performing aerospace/mechanical technician tasks in support of Army aircraft and associated mission equipment. Responsibilities include fabrication and assembly of electrical and mechanical components for system development, test preparation, and execution in R&D and flight test applications. The technician will provide input for the development of electrical and mechanical systems, components, harness designs, mechanical designs, and installation methods, focusing on manufacturability, airworthiness, and operational sustainment. This includes participating in design and drawing reviews, aiding in component selection, assembling wiring harnesses, setting up bench tests, installing aircraft wiring, mechanical mounting, configuring test fixtures, monitoring tests, and adhering to quality control standards. Testing support involves component selection, test stand maintenance, calibration, and operation of test equipment, as well as planning for future efforts, monitoring program execution, and documenting results. The role also supports flight testing, structural testing, ballistic testing, component failure analysis, and environmental qualification for aircraft components, including fabrication and sheet metal work for standard and non-standard systems. The technician will interpret engineering drawings, install mechanical systems, and coordinate with project leads and maintenance personnel. Operation of common powered and non-powered tools is required. Travel is expected for mission requirements such as site surveys, technical interchange meetings, training, and testing support outside of JBLE facilities, including equipment packing and movement. Support for flight duties may also be required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to oversee the efforts of the technical and less senior staff.
Minimum of 8-10+ years of experience as aerospace/mechanical technician working with common airframe repair and mechanical fabrications tools.
Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft airframe repair and fabrication techniques as well as experience with the Army logistics and supply system for aviation related parts and components.
Must be able to pass an FAA III Class or military Class III flight physical annually.
Must be able to qualify for participation in night flights and the use of NVGs.
High School diploma or High School equivalency certificate.
Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Perform aerospace/mechanical technician tasking in support of Army aircraft and associated mission equipment.
Conduct fabrication and assembly of electrical and mechanical components in order to perform system development, test preparation, and test execution of various components and elements related to R&D and flight test applications.
Provide input to aid in the development of electrical and mechanical systems, components, harness designs, mechanical designs, and installation methods to achieve manufacturability, airworthiness, and operational sustainment.
Provide testing support which includes selection of components, test stand maintenance, calibration, and operation of test equipment.
Perform structural test, ballistic test, component failure, and environmental qualification for various aircraft components.
Set-up and execution of tests, which may include aircraft mechanical component fabrication and sheet metal mechanic support for both standard and non-standard systems and subsystems.
Interpret engineering drawings and install mechanical systems and subsystems into aviation platforms IAW with TDD-SID approved procedures.
Coordinate with project leads, aircraft maintenance and other personnel as required for proper integration, communication of status, and issues/conflicts.
Operate common powered and non-powered tools to include but not limited to hand and pneumatic tools, drills, and other mechanical specialty tools.
Travel in support of mission requirements in the form of site surveys, technical interchange meetings, training, testing support, and other critical tasks outside of the JBLE facilities.
Assist with equipment packing and movement as per mission requirements.
Support flight duties as required based upon Mission needs.
