Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer
About The Position
We are seeking an Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer for a 3+ month contract onsite in Merritt Island, FL. This role involves developing manufacturing work instructions, managing quality and build sequences, performing engineering drawing impact assessments, and dispositioning non-conformance repair and rework activities. The engineer will also design material handling and packaging solutions, manage hardware configuration, and lead efforts to improve operational excellence. Support will be provided to the manufacturing floor for assembly, installation, compliance, discrepancy resolution, and acceptance testing. This is a hands-on engineering role acting as a liaison between design, test, and operations teams and manufacturing customers. Responsibilities include investigating root causes, dispositioning vehicle discrepancies, and taking ownership of corrective actions, as well as driving Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) into the design process.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- 7 or more years direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience in Aerospace or related field.
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including a solid understanding of GD&T.
- Proficiency in business and engineering software (CAD, PLM, CREO, Scheduling, MS Office, Windchill, etc).
- Ability to develop processes compliant to industry quality systems such as AS9100.
- Experience with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.
- Must be US Citizen or a Green Card holder.
Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing work instructions for fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
- Manage quality, build sequences, and schedule for hardware manufacturing processes.
- Perform engineering drawing impact assessments, reviews, and approvals for manufacturing.
- Disposition non-conformance repair and rework activities.
- Design proper material handling and packaging solutions to protect hardware.
- Manage hardware configuration and steward build and test pedigrees.
- Lead efforts to identify, develop, and deploy designs and methodologies that improve operational excellence through quality, cost, design, and process improvements.
- Support the manufacturing floor in assembly and installation, compliance to engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing.
- Perform a hands-on engineering and liaison role between design, test, and operations teams and manufacturing customers.
