About The Position

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Aerospace Ground Equipment Specialist to join our vehicle & equipment sustainment team in Okinawa, Japan. The selected candidate will provide logistics support to multiple families of vehicles & equipment globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of qualified mechanical experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field (OR) 7+ years of qualified mechanical experience and a trade school certification or associate degree in a related field (OR) 9+ years of qualified mechanical experience.
  • Qualified mechanical experience includes one or more of the following: light or heavy-duty trucks, ground power units, generators, gas turbine compressors, nitrogen and oxygen carts, aircraft tugs, air conditioning and heater units, cargo loaders, de-icing vehicles, runway sweepers, light carts, hydraulic test stands, fuel and defuel equipment.
  • Experience with maintenance support to include operations, system troubleshooting, engineering, design, installation, analysis, maintenance and repair of U.S. systems and subsystems to component level.
  • Experience with a variety of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, multi-meters; experience applying industry and/or military standard troubleshooting procedures to isolate faulty system components.
  • Willingness to travel to mission locations within the United States, Europe and Pacific region on an as needed basis and work 40+ hours on missions that will vary in length.
  • Must possess a Valid Driver’s License for the location in which the work will be performed, ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening and have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with commercial and military aerospace ground equipment to include but not limited to the following:
  • Powered AGE Assets: Generators (e.g., -86), Gas Turbine Compressors / Bleed Air Generators (e.g., -95), Hydraulic Test Stands, Air Conditioners and Heaters, Nitrogen and Oxygen Carts, Light Carts.
  • Non-Powered AGE Assets: Maintenance Stands, Tow Bars, Jacks and Tripods, Munitions Loaders, and Bomb Lifts.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion engines, hydraulic cylinders, fuel pumps, fuel/hydraulic lines, voltage regulators and generators used in Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE).
  • Work involves replacing worn or broken parts such as motors, bearings, or other engine parts; adjusting valves; and repairing fuel injections, lighting, and ignition systems.
  • Maintenance support including operations of powered and non-powered units, system troubleshooting, engineering, analysis, maintenance and repair of commercial and military aerospace ground equipment systems and subsystems to the component level.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on electrical power support systems by verifying proper fuel, lubricants and coolant levels. Effectively applies industry or military standard troubleshooting procedures to localize and isolate faulty system components.
  • Maintains and prepares records and documentation to ensure accurate and timely data processing.
  • 25% travel to worksites in various locations, United States, Europe and Pacific Region.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
