About The Position

SpaceWorks Enterprises is seeking aerospace engineers specializing in Flight Performance and Trajectory Optimization to design and develop next-generation hypersonic flight vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, human and robotic spacecraft, and space re-entry vehicles. The role supports a small multidisciplinary technical team working on complex aerospace systems and modeling, simulation, and design activities involving high-speed flight systems, including airbreathing, re-entry, and launch systems. The work includes trajectory design and optimization using 3-DOF trajectory software; flight performance assessments such as ΔV budgets, mass margins, and staging trade-offs; and multidisciplinary design optimization. Engineers develop and analyze mission trajectories across ascent, orbital operations, re-entry, and landing, while balancing mission performance, safety, and system constraints. The position is in-office at SpaceWorks’ Atlanta, Georgia facility, with telework days and flexible scheduling options available. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and immediately eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience; internships and research count toward this experience.
  • Experience in the design or modeling of hypersonic atmospheric vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, or human and robotic spacecraft.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary design optimization.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, collaborative environment, with ownership and autonomy typical of a small business.
  • Hands-on experience with trajectory optimization software, CFD tools, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent simulation platforms.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and immediately eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of related aerospace industry experience contributing technically as an engineer, primarily in concept development, requirements definition, preliminary design, and detailed design.
  • High-level disciplinary experience with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization of high-speed flight or launch vehicle design.
  • Experience in relevant aerospace-oriented flight development programs, such as UAVs, missiles, or CubeSats.
  • Basic knowledge of Monte Carlo analysis, uncertainty analysis, or risk analysis.
  • Small business experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support a small multidisciplinary team of technical staff in designing complex systems.
  • Support modeling, simulation, and design activities for high-speed flight systems, including airbreathing, re-entry, and launch systems.
  • Perform trajectory design and optimization using 3-DOF trajectory software.
  • Conduct flight performance assessments, including ΔV budgets, mass margins, and staging trade-offs, to ensure mission objectives are met.
  • Use trajectory optimization tools and methods to balance mission performance, safety, and system constraints.
  • Perform multidisciplinary design optimization of aerospace systems.
  • Develop and analyze mission trajectories, including ascent, orbital operations, re-entry, and landing phases.

Benefits

  • Medical, telemedicine, vision, and dental coverage options.
  • Long-term and short-term disability coverage.
  • Health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts.
  • Flexible work schedules, including telework days, compressed workweek options, core hours, and flex time.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Parental leave.
  • Sabbatical leave.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Opportunities for bonuses.
  • Employee experience events throughout the year.
