HX5 is seeking an Aerospace Engineer to support the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center in Brook Park, Ohio. The role involves supporting the HLS Site Availability Lead and the lunar landing site availability analysis team. This effort is monitored by the System Architectures and Analytical Studies Branch at NASA GRC, which provides research and engineering to define and analyze communications system architectures. The selected candidate will support NASA’s mission of landing Boots on the Moon by 2028 by conducting independent analyses of data, results, and recommendations delivered by Human Landing System (HLS) providers. This includes complex data analysis and synthesis of geological and environmental properties, spacecraft capabilities, mission design factors, launch window opportunities, and communication availability. The primary responsibility is to provide results, documentation, and software scripts for concurrent analysis cycles, review plans for follow-on cycles, and participate in weekly meetings to provide status and support collaboration. The technical effort will identify and select potential lunar landing sites using the Glenn Research Center Communication Analysis Suite (GCAS) software package, which simulates potential spacecraft orbits and optimizes mission characteristics. Analysis and synthesis of data related to mission constraints and figures of merit will be required to support Moon Base site selections. The selected candidate will support the Artemis Moon Base Site Availability Lead and analysis team.
