About The Position

FALCATA is seeking an Aerospace Engineer to support work at the Naval Research Laboratory and contribute directly to high-priority Navy missions. The role conducts advanced fluid dynamics simulations to characterize aerodynamic loads and aerothermal environments across a wide range of flight regimes, requiring knowledge of aerodynamics, fluid-thermal interactions, and simulation-based design. The position uses industry-standard computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and trajectory modeling tools, as well as CAD software. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a comprehensive background check, security investigation, and drug screening. The expected salary range is $100,000–$133,000 per year, depending on experience and location. The role is eligible for an annual performance bonus and may include equity or incentive compensation as part of the total rewards package.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship.
An active Secret clearance.
A strong understanding of aerodynamics, fluid-thermal interactions, and simulation-based design.
Working knowledge of CFD tools such as Star-CCM, CBAero, Cart3D, and TAOS.
Experience developing and applying trajectory modeling tools and integrating aerodynamic predictions into 6-DOF models.
Proficiency with CAD software such as Siemens NX Design or SolidWorks.
Strong proficiency with data analysis tools such as MATLAB.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance preferred.
Two years of experience in a relevant aerospace engineering discipline involving aerodynamic or aerothermal analysis preferred.
