About The Position

The electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. They ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. This position may require a government security clearance and involves travel up to 20% of the time. The work environment is indoors, in a production and office setting, which is temperature controlled unless products and/or equipment are located outdoors. Potential exposures include bloodborne pathogens, cuts and/or burns, small and/or enclosed spaces, dirt, dust, grease and/or oil, noisy environments, metal shavings, commercial chemicals, and high-voltage electricity. The work hours are a standard schedule, with overtime potentially necessary for meeting deadlines, required travel, and emergent conditions. The job requires medium work, including moving objects up to 50 pounds, ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like; moving about on foot for long distances or between work sites; operating a motor vehicle, forklift, and/or other heavy equipment; working primarily with fingers; prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions involving bending and stooping; reading instructions, operating machines, and inspecting parts; and repeating motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Visual inspection of small defects and parts, and machine operation are also key aspects of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and implement electrical diagrams to wire mechanical assemblies.
  • Read and interpret Electrical Controls Drawings, Layouts and other documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.
  • Maintains application skills for electrical components, circuits, J.I.C. electrical specifications, NEMA standards.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Able to diagnose problems, debug and troubleshooting on the following equipment: Electrical Supply Components (power supply, disconnects, switchgear, transformers, inverters and uninterruptible power supplies, circuit breakers, batteries and chargers). Electrical & Electronic Control Components (relays, meters, control circuits, contactors, switches, I/O blocks, Ethernet switches, Scalance switches, cable harnesses). Rotating Equipment (motors, generators, motor-generators). Electrical Distribution (alternating and direct current systems), Emergency Power Systems, Protective Relaying Systems, Transformer Systems and Auxiliary.
  • Assists setting tool sequencing, cycle time, and tool interfacing.
  • Supports debug and troubleshooting, fault symptoms, and hazards.
  • Reviews layouts and collects cable length.
  • Adheres to the Quality System and participates in Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Breaker operation, setting, adjustment and repair.
  • High voltage connection preparation.
  • Relay setting, adjustment, calibration and repair.
  • Special soldering (miniature connectors).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
