Requirements

  • Education, experience, military, or training equivalent to a 2-4 year degree program in a technical discipline or Development/Pipeline program.
  • 4-5 years of cutting tool application experience by product line, gained through hands-on learning.
  • Understanding of the complete machining process by product line is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with metal cutting principles/processes: power, thrust, balance, microfinishes, geometries within an aerospace and defense machining environment, and/or aerostructure assembly.
  • Strong work ethic; self-motivated; independent and capable of planning, organizing, and making decisions.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Presenter with skills in persuasion and value selling.
  • Expertise in product line details/operation and how to ensure product performance.
  • Customer-focused and solutions-oriented.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to perform optimization and troubleshooting within the territory/sales region.
  • Business-oriented in planning and development; ability to adapt quickly to change.
  • Candidate should be located in or near the Wichita, Kansas region.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements sales plans to achieve annual budget goals within a specific sales region.
  • Partners with customers to generate new applications for MAPAL products, presenting and demonstrating value-added solutions.
  • Coordinates with customers and MAPAL to troubleshoot customer challenges, organize optimization plans, and document processes for a knowledge library and training.
  • Acts as a liaison between on-site engineers, customer service, manufacturing, and engineering to address changes and optimize performance.
  • Instructs and trains customers on the implementation of supplied cutting tools.
  • Resolves cutting tool issues on the customer's premises, reporting findings and recommending necessary changes.
  • Accountable for all assigned product line testing, reporting, and closing out the test tool process, including documentation and coordination with MAPAL teams (e.g., Finance).
  • Recommends speeds and feeds for cycle times, tool life, and manufacturability.
  • Provides technical support to internal and external teams, acting as a technical contact for the internal design department and affiliated companies, and supporting sales staff.
  • Shares technical documentation and data (e.g., approval and final drawings, tooling examples, machine data).
  • Liaisons between customer, manufacturing, and engineering to resolve performance or design issues encountered on-site.
  • Maintains contact with customers and MAPAL regarding technical requirements and needs.
  • Utilizes engineering and past application knowledge to process applications.
  • Analyzes customer requirements for part production (hole/surface quality, SPC requirements, tolerances).
  • Interacts with customers to generate new applications within the MAPAL product offerings and suggests other products for tooling packages.
