About The Position

Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products, ensuring all quality and productivity requirements are met in a cost-effective manner. This role may supervise multiple functions and/or shifts, typically through shift/department leads. Production Supervisor positions have a lesser span of control and require less demonstrated expertise in manufacturing and process skills compared to an Area Manager. The role involves managing a moderate number of production employees and manufacturing machines. The supervisor must demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of PCC budgeting, financial management, planning, and manufacturing processes. They must also apply lean, TOC, interference management, and NEI processes within their areas of responsibility.

Requirements

High school plus college level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, accounting, mathematics and statistics or equivalent experience required.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adapt to changing situations and priorities.
Must be organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Computer literate, particularly in spreadsheet; financial; inventory and production planning and tracking applications.
Demonstrated ability to develop, execute, and deliver results in conformance with action plans.
Completion of and ability to apply information from hazardous waste training required due to potential coordination of hazardous waste handling in areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the safe manufacture of products and maintaining a safe, injury-free work environment.
Ensures compliance with legal requirements and company safety policies.
Ensures all employees work safely and are properly trained in safety procedures.
Ensures good housekeeping practices are consistently followed.
Ensures effective employee relations, including coaching, development, and issue resolution.
Responsible for adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and quality control instructions.
Plans, organizes, and supervises shift operations according to production schedules and requirements in the most cost-effective manner.
Responsible for process control in the area of responsibility.
Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and assures compliance by assigned employees.
Ensures that thru-put and target earned hours are attained and budget criteria are met or exceeded.
Works with employees to resolve workplace issues and provides feedback on performance.
Conducts formal performance appraisals and recommends/approves pay increases, transfers, and promotions.
Interviews and hires (recommends for hire) employees.
Develops, trains, and involves employees in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
Maintains adequate staffing to meet required production schedules.
Assists with and provides input for annual budget for areas of responsibility and adheres to budget plans.
Meets monthly budgets.
