About The Position

The Aerial Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper lines. This role involves working at heights on poles and aerial structures while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in aerial telecommunications work preferred
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred depending on company requirements)
  • Ability to lift 75–85+ lbs
  • Knowledge of fiber optic installation and splicing a plus
  • Familiarity with utility construction practices
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Strong focus on safety
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions

Responsibilities

  • Install, splice, and maintain aerial fiber and/or copper telecommunications lines
  • Climb utility poles and operate bucket trucks safely
  • Set, replace, and transfer poles, strand, and hardware
  • Install and lash fiber optic cable to aerial strand
  • Read and interpret construction prints, maps, and work orders
  • Perform cable placement, strand work, and pole transfers
  • Troubleshoot and repair aerial network issues
  • Operate tools and equipment including bucket trucks, climbers, hand tools, and power tools
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites
  • Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and project managers
