About The Position

An aerial lighting technician is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining lighting equipment at significant heights, such as on utility poles, construction sites, or high-reaching lifts for film sets. Key qualifications include certifications for operating aerial lifts (e.g., OSHA, scissor lift, or boom lift training), a strong background in high-voltage electricity, and exceptional physical stamina.

Requirements

  • OSHA 10 or 30 General Industry/Construction certification
  • Aerial Lift Operator Certification (scissor and boom lifts)
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Proficiency in using heavy power tools, circuit testers, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Lack of acrophobia (fear of heights)
  • Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50+ pounds.
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Ability to quickly identify electrical faults and resolve equipment failures on the fly
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree
  • At least 2-4 years of lighting and electrical experience.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel
  • Must be reliable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman electrician card
  • Electrical trade certificate
  • Degree in electrical/aeronautical engineering
  • Expertise in knot-tying, load capacities, and securing heavy fixtures above ground safely.
