About The Position

Advocacy is a powerful force for change, allowing individuals to have their voices heard and respected when decisions are being made about their health and social care. It raises awareness of people’s rights and entitlements and empowers people to advocate for themselves or speak up for them when they can’t. The Advocacy People are an independent, Human Rights based charity and one of the UK’s largest providers of advocacy, advocacy-related and Healthwatch services who make sure people are heard when it matters most. Advocates support people to express their views, understand their rights and make informed decisions. Much of their work is with some of the most vulnerable in our society who cannot speak up for themselves and have no family members or friends who can do so. Most of what we do operates within the legislative frameworks of the Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Mental Health Act, and NHS Health Complaints process. We are looking to recruit 2 permanent, multi-skilled advocates to join our Kent team: one advocate working 37 hours per week (full-time) with a focus on IMHA, and one advocate working 22.5 hours per week across 3 days with a focus on IMCA. The starting salary for each role is £25,878 per annum (pro rata). When applying, please specify the role you would like to be considered for. Both posts are multi-disciplinary and may cover all forms of advocacy.
