About The Position

The Advocate - Mobile Housing will provide in-person case management, housing advocacy, service coordination, immediate Sheltering and related supportive services, emotional support, and rapid re-housing services to all survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other violent crimes residing in hotels across the following counties in Iowa: Scott, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, Louisa, Lee, Henry, Des Moines, Cedar, and Van Buren and the following counties in Illinois: Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer. This position must be available and capable of participating in the 24-hour on-call rotation for Survivor Services Sheltering and Housing Program. This position must possess and exhibit exceptional judgment, excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position requires reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance. These responsibilities are carried out under the direction of the Supervisor - Sheltering & Housing. This position requires a flexible schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Vehicle with appropriate auto insurance
  • Ability to pass the motor vehicle record background check

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (two years of experience as a domestic violence case manager in a major social service program may be substituted for a year of college)
  • Paid or volunteer human service (with children, domestic violence, and sexual assault victims)
