About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking an Advisory Engineer. In this role, you will provide national engineering leadership to create complete engineering design packages. You will provide engineering leadership across the Project Engineering group by mentoring the broader engineering team, and act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) by leading the organization in current and emerging power distribution technology. You will provide guidance/oversight to the standards committee for the development of design standards and specifications, and establish engineering program goals to grow the engineering business throughout the country. You will perform complex engineering work or act as lead engineer on complex projects to ensure successful delivery and mentorship. Additionally, you will perform QAQC in collaboration with Regional Project Engineers (RPE) to ensure high quality deliverables, and assist RPE in developing engineering design concepts and estimates at the proposal stage. You will oversee the development of electrical drawing packages including physical layouts, ground grid design, protection and control, and wiring. You will also assist RPE in developing testing/commissioning plans for projects and be an SME resource during the testing/commissioning phase. Furthermore, you will assist RPE in leading the engineering effort on large turnkey projects with multiple engineering groups to ensure high quality and on-schedule deliverables, and provide technical oversight of civil engineering designs. You will assist RPE in QA/QC review of internal and external designs for code compliance, accuracy, and constructability, and assist in the development and enforcement of design and process standards. This role involves providing technical guidance, value-added engineering, and constructability guidance during both the design and implementation phases, as well as mentoring and/or leading other engineers. You will support National Engineering Managers with operational support, including project financial updates and risk reviews.

Requirements

  • BS in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of power system transmission, distribution, or generation design
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton’s safety program and policy; This includes role-applicable portions of the EESS Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) program and any required annual re-certifications thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer qualification
  • Field experience in testing/commissioning medium voltage equipment
  • Working knowledge of NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NETA
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Engineering project management experience
