About The Position

AECOM Advisory is our new management consulting Global Business Line. Created to build off AECOM’s considerable operational expertise in infrastructure design and engineering services, AECOM Advisory is a trusted adviser to senior level clients and executive teams on their most pressing enterprise and strategic needs. We serve the full value chain of clients active in infrastructure, the built environment, and community vibrancy, including: national governments, regulatory entities, city agencies, utilities, transit agencies, infrastructure operators and investors. Our team of 400 staff globally comprises business analysts, economists, commercial strategists, technology architects, human capital and change management practitioners. We help our clients develop their strategy, improve their operational performance, and integrate digital systems to generate value for their stakeholders and impact for their communities. We are a new category of consulting firm; one that builds off true operational and technical expertise of our broader platform to bring industry depth and capability-driven insight to the clients we serve. We are seeking talented management consultants to join AECOM Advisory who are mission-driven for the role of our clients in supporting economic, environmental and social vibrancy. Requirements

  • Proven track record in a government service leadership role within DHS or a proven track record in a seller-doer role in a management consulting firm serving Federal Government clients.
  • At least 15 years of management consulting and/or related government or industry experience, including 5 years of leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, client-service mindset and ability to act as a trusted adviser to clients.
  • Create a culture of a high-tempo, high-context client-facing environment, with the ability to maintain poise, maturity and work well under pressure.
  • Able to be self-directed, anticipatory and a collegial team-player who can work across a devolved-leadership and highly-matrixed consulting organization.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and narrative development skills, with the ability to summarize and convey key insights to C-suite and senior management audiences.
  • Exceptional DHS acumen and willingness to have an informed point-of-view, grounded in an interest in enterprise challenges (people, process, technology) and expert understanding of client industries and their context.
  • Domain expertise across multiple of the following areas: Program initiation and management, Enterprise strategy, target operating model and organization design, Organizational assessment, process re-engineering, business transformation and performance improvement, Technology-enabled business transformation, digital modernization and operating model implementation.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, or other Master’s degree in Operational Research, Management, Management Science, Finance, Economics, Systems Engineering and/or related fields.
  • Program Management Experience with DHS agencies
  • Enterprise optimization experience with DHS and or DOW organizations.
  • Expertise coordinating initiatives across DHS component agencies and organizations.
  • Experience with DHS Science and Technology Directorate and or the US Coast Guard
  • Expertise in Federal Acquisitions processes and procedures.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification

Responsibilities

  • Driving business development, overseeing engagement delivery and leading practice development for the Department of Homeland Security overall and its component agencies.
  • Being present in industry conversations and professional networks to identify and originate business development opportunities and author positioning strategies for key clients and pursuits.
  • Leveraging government and industry expertise and commercial acumen to proactively target, define and shape business development campaigns.
  • Overseeing all aspects of proposal responses as Capture Manager, including: narrative development, coordinate across multiple teams to develop technical solutions, pricing, team definition, subcontractor engagement, internal risk review, and compliance procedures.
  • Overseeing (outline, supervise, and provide quality control over) multiple delivery teams comprised Consultants and Senior Consultants across multiple and inter-dependent workstreams.
  • Providing leadership for client interactions on delivery progress and insight validation, and visibility for interactions including with C-suite clients and senior management stakeholders.
  • Providing timely quality assurance and control over scope, assumptions, analyses and insights.
  • Driving practice development with conducting performance appraisals, operational performance improvement, thought leadership and IP generation.
  • Playing leadership roles on critical programs with organizations such as DHS S&T and the US Coast Guard with the goal of growing target accounts.
  • Proactively coaching and mentoring junior staff on developing core consulting skills.
