Advise TX Career Adviser - Office of Admissions (Dallas Location)
About The Position
This position is a fixed-term role from August 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, with a potential for renewal for an additional year based on funding and workload. Located in Dallas, TX, the Advise TX Career Adviser will provide essential support to students in Title One high schools, guiding them through the complex processes of college admissions, matriculation, and financial aid. The role involves offering one-on-one advice, organizing group sessions, and assisting students in planning, applying, and enrolling in suitable colleges and universities. The adviser will also engage with students and families at presentations, group events, and college fairs, while establishing strong relationships with school personnel and collaborating with other Advise Texas Career Advisors in the service area. Maintaining up-to-date expertise in admissions and financial aid planning is crucial for this position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree within the last year.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one admissions and financial aid advice to students and families.
- Assist high school students in planning, applying, and enrolling in colleges.
- Organize group sessions to encourage students and families to consider, plan for, and apply to colleges and universities.
- Advise students at one-on-one meetings, presentations, group events, and college fairs and visits.
- Establish productive working relationships with principals, counselors, and teachers in the assigned high school.
- Assist in the efforts of other Advise Texas Career Advisor(s) within the service area.
- Maintain expertise in admissions and financial-aid planning.
Benefits
- Retirement Plan Eligibility: Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
