About The Position

The Virginia Tech School of Communication invites applications for a full-time, open-rank professor of practice (non-tenure-track). The successful candidate will be expected to teach advertising courses, which could include Advertising Copywriting and Brand Storytelling, Account Planning and Media Buying, and Ethics and Social Responsibility in Advertising, Advertising Campaigns, as well as courses relevant to the instructor’s area of expertise. The expected teaching load is three classes per semester. The School of Communication serves more than 1,000 undergraduate students across five majors (sports media and analytics, public relations, multimedia journalism, communication, and advertising) and 30 graduate students in its MA in communication and MA in reputation management degrees. Virginia Tech ranked 5 th in the 2022 Sportscasters Talent Association of America ranking of sports broadcasting schools and is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in advertising or related field or bachelor’s degree in advertising, communication, public relations, marketing, or related field with substantial experience in advertising.
  • Demonstration of extensive professional advertising industry expertise.
