About The Position

The Kidder Creek Adventure Guide assists and leads campers and staff on river trips and facilitates ropes course activities, rock climbing, backpacking, biking, and other adventure and recreation activities. The role helps ensure campers have an adventure experience consistent with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (MHA) mission, vision, and values. This is a ministerial position: staff are expected to demonstrate in their work, stewardship, relationships, and behavior that they follow Jesus Christ, and to help define, cultivate, and lead MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats. They also assist with food preparation, host Outback adventure and river groups, support other camp programs when adventure activities are not operating, and lead camper debriefs connecting activities and experiences with applicable Biblical truth. Guides may rotate into guide or counselor positions for camp programs. Other duties may be assigned by supervisors. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. The physical environment includes indoor and outdoor work in heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, and arid conditions. The role involves varied-terrain hiking, swimming, climbing, shouting, and moving through ladders, stairs, cables, and trees using hands and feet. It also requires lifting and transporting 15–60 pounds of gear and equipment over stairs and uneven terrain, as well as communicating at close and long distances in adverse conditions.
