About The Position

The University of Lynchburg is seeking applicants for an Advancement Systems Manager and Reporting full-time position. This role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the advancement fundraising database, including prospects, donors, alumni, and custom report generation. The position will play a crucial role in effectively managing and implementing a comprehensive database serving multiple departments such as Advancement, Finance, President’s Office, University Communication and Marketing, and Athletics. Responsibilities also include training new staff on The Raiser’s Edge, data entry, and data security. The Advancement Systems Manager will collaborate with the Gift Recording Specialist and the Prospect Manager to ensure data accuracy and assist with gift entry as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience administering and maintaining the Raiser's Edge database system required.
  • Bachelor degree required
  • Strong computer proficiency with advanced analytical and data management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage budgets, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Ability to motivate, train, and support staff while fostering a positive team environment.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Data Administrator within a fundraising or development environment preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of fundraising operations and alumni relations, preferably within higher education institutions.
  • Master degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Advancement fundraising database to ensure data integrity.
  • Maintain security and user access for all users of The Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud Merchant Services, etc.
  • Create advanced queries, exports and custom reports in order to analyze institutional fundraising and progress for the Office of Advancement, the Board of Trustees, and other areas of campus.
  • Analyze report data to assist in the creation of general and individual solicitation strategies.
  • Develop processes that will help in efficiency and timeliness for reporting numbers shared with the Board, President or Leadership.
  • Run and distribute monthly fundraising reports.
  • Create mail lists for various university mailings.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for gift acknowledgement and gift processing.
  • Format, prepare, and perform regular data imports into The Raiser’s Edge which includes student records, parent records, demographics, event attendees and other data, as needed.
  • Create online forms and pages.
  • Process online gifts, registrations and information updates from NXT.
  • Develop, maintain and update policies and procedures for data entry.
  • Prepare and submit a yearly Voluntary Support of Education (VSE) report to the Council for Aid to Education (CAE).
  • Work with the Business Office to complete yearly IRS 990 Schedule B report.
  • Work with the Business Office to complete the yearly pledge receivables report for audit.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training and support to all users of The Raiser’s Edge.
  • Upgrade and trouble-shoot workstations running The Raiser’s Edge.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
