Advanced Step Apprentice (3rd Step or above)/Journeyman Lineman - Faribault, MN
About The Position
Xcel Energy anticipates hiring one or more Advanced Step Apprentice or Journeyman Linemen at its Faribault Service Center in Faribault, Minnesota. The role performs all duties of the Lineman Classification, including work on overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission systems. The person in this position is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, provide quality customer service, work independently, and maintain a positive attitude. The hourly base rate is $62.27 for a Journeyman Lineman. Apprentice pay is based on step: 70% of the Journeyman rate ($43.59) at the 3rd step, 75% at the 4th step, 80% at the 5th step, 85% at the 6th step, 90% at the 7th step, and 95% at the 8th step. The position requires participation in after-hours emergency call-outs and residence within 20 miles of the assigned Service Center. It is subject to the D.O.T. random drug and alcohol testing program.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Degree or diploma from an accepted line school.
- Meet driver qualification requirements, including possession of a valid Commercial Class A Driver's License.
- Be physically capable of performing all aspects of electric overhead and underground distribution construction, operations, and maintenance work.
- Have good communication and teamwork skills.
- Be presently qualified as a 3rd Step Apprentice Lineman or higher.
- Be self-motivated and possess a positive attitude.
- Demonstrate a commitment to working safely and productively.
- Live within a 20-mile radius of the assigned Service Center.
- Participate in the D.O.T. random drug and alcohol testing program.
