About The Position

Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) is seeking an Advanced Software Engineer to join their team. FRFS provides a suite of payments services to financial institutions through various solutions like FedLine® Solutions, Fedwire® Funds and Securities, and the FedNow® Service. The organization is focused on delivering speed, resilience, and choice in meeting customer payment needs. This role requires an advanced understanding of software development and/or test automation principles, with specialized depth or breadth of expertise. The engineer will be relied upon for thought leadership, perform work independently, and coach/delegate to less experienced staff. The position involves applying software engineering principles to design, develop, configure, test, maintain, and support software applications, databases, test automation tools, DevOps processes, and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products. Responsibilities include performing peer reviews, partnering with customers on innovative solutions, analyzing business and technical requirements, and providing on-call support for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident management, and service request management. The role emphasizes a customer-first mindset and contributing to the central bank's mission. While flexibility is valued, onsite work is an essential function of this position.

Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of software development and/or test automation principles.
  • Specialized depth and/or substantial breadth of expertise in discipline.
  • Technical skill in at least two programming general purpose languages (JAVA, C#, Python, JSF (PrimeFaces), Angular (latest versions), TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, SQL, or proprietary vendor language).
  • Expertise in Java programming (Java 8 or higher) and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Integration and Spring Security preferred.
  • Experience in frontend application security, including token, headers and Policy.
  • Bachelor’s degree specializing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.
  • Ten years' experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NgRx, RxJS, containerization (OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • WebSphere Application Server, Liberty and MQ knowledge is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the principles of software engineering to the design, implementation, configuration, and optimization of solutions to support applications, databases, test automation tools, DevOps processes, and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products.
  • Perform peer reviews using software engineering principles, patterns, and development guidelines.
  • Partner with customers in the development of innovative solutions.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and implement technical solutions to meet them.
  • Provide on-call support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident management, and service request management for supported products and environments.
  • Coach, delegate, and review work of less experienced staff and serve as a knowledge resource.
