About The Position

Rincon Research Corporation (RRC) is seeking an Advanced Software Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on innovating, developing, and fielding digital signal processing (DSP) and Aerospace products and services for the United States Defense and Intelligence Communities. This role will be instrumental in building a new, end-to-end development program for advanced orbit determination, maneuver planning, and constellation management missions for United States Government space systems. The engineer will support all phases of development, from architecture and System Requirements Review (SRR) through Critical Design Review (CDR), integration, testing, and deployment. As a small business, RRC offers a unique opportunity to combine hands-on technical depth with senior-level leadership, allowing for deep engagement in design decisions while guiding the program. The position involves working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with electrical engineers, mathematicians, aerospace engineers, and computer scientists/engineers. Software engineers at RRC are involved across the entire system lifecycle, receiving direct customer feedback and seeing their work have a tangible impact. Innovation is encouraged, with team members expected to propose improvements to system architectures, engineering processes, tools, and security posture.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field
  • Significant programming expertise with C and/or C++
  • Significant experience with Linux
  • Experience with additional high-level languages (Python, Shell Scripting, etc.)
  • Experience with Git or other revision control systems
  • Knowledge of software design principles including industry best practices and design trends
  • Ability to communicate software and algorithm design, complexity analysis, and performance metrics in written and oral reports
  • Ability to quickly grasp and come up-to-speed with large software code bases
  • Experience developing and deploying scientific applications in a cloud native environment

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • Experience accelerating algorithms using CUDA or other parallel processing architectures
  • Experience with DSP or communication theory
  • Experience with software support of FPGA centric hardware designs
  • Significant experience with math intensive software development (DSP, numerical methods, AI/ML, graphics)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the research, design, and development of computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development.
  • Primarily responsible for the design and development of software products for a variety of software applications.
  • Participates in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test of software products.
  • Applies computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target application.
  • Works closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system.
  • Develops software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation.
  • Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches.
  • Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products.
  • Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
  • Stays current with latest technologies, tools and methodologies and proactively recommends and applies improvements to the full mission lifecycle.
