Advanced Riggers - Old Ocean, TX
About The Position
Turner Industries is seeking an Advanced Rigger for an upcoming TAR (Turnaround) in Old Ocean, TX. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Site Manager / Area Safety Manager. The assigned duties will follow specific procedures, and the work will be checked frequently. This position is ideal for local candidates as no Per Diem is offered. The role will involve work during the pre-down, TAR, and demobilization phases, with an approximate duration of 8 months. Working hours will be 5-8s before and after the TAR, and 7-12s during the TAR, with shifts TBD and subject to change.
Requirements
- NCCER Advanced Gold Card or NCCCO Rigging 1 AND 2 Certification required
- Must be able to pass health/drug screen, background screen, and required safety council training
- Five years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
- Written pre-employment qualification test
- Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
- Hazard Communication orientation/test
- Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination
- OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
- Job site orientation
- Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
- Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place
Responsibilities
- Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material on construction projects.
- Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.
- Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
- Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook.
- Gives directions to equipment operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and material handles, using hand signals, loudspeaker or telephone.
- Sets up, braces and rigs hoisting equipment.
- Splices rope and wire to make repair slings and tackles.
- May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment into ships, railroad cars or trucks.
