The successful candidate will have a broad background in Organic Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields, with expertise in molecular design, chemical synthesis, and reaction mechanisms. The ability to develop and test structure-property hypotheses through synthesis, characterization, and experimental investigation is required. The candidate should have experience studying phase behavior, molecular interactions, and the relationships between molecular structure and physical and chemical properties. A strong understanding of chemical and process thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, process chemistry, and the chemistry of industrial processes is required. Candidates should also be well-versed in molecular characterization techniques such as NMR, GC, LC, mass spectrometry, and related analytical methods. The successful candidate is expected to provide technical leadership through individual contributions and collaboration on multidisciplinary teams, identify and develop new research opportunities, mentor less-experienced researchers, and build productive collaborations both internally and with external research organizations.
